1:1 to 16:1 HF (1.8-30 Mhz) Impedance Transformers configured as Baluns/Ununs
Palomar manufacturers impedance transformers in the 1.8-30 MHz range configured as baluns (coax input and balanced load output like a dipole, loop or log periodic) or as ununs (coax input and unbalanced load like a vertical antenna). Impedance transformers are available in kit form (Prefix is usually BA for balun. Most of the kits can be configured as either a balun or as an unun with the included instructions). Assembled impedance transformers have a CB (balun) or CU (unun) prefix for the part number.
Part number examples:
BA-4-250 is a kit balun with a 4:1 (200:50) impedance transformation rated at 250- watts PEP
CB-2-2000 is a balun with a 2:1 (100:50) impedance transformer rated at 2000 watts PEP
The frequency ranges and transformation graphs (impedance transformations measured at the input and SWR over the range of frequency) are given with each product. Some of the products have extended ranges (e.g. 1.8-60 MHz) outside the HF band.
