The rig must be matched to the transmission line. The other end of the transmission line must be matched to the antenna. Finally, the antenna must be matched to space, because that is where the radio-frequency energy goes when it leaves the antenna. Make it tough for the energy to leave the antenna, and the antenna will work poorly. Make it easy-build the antenna from the proper materials and assemble it to the right dimen­sions-and it will work well. There is a lot more to it, but the basic idea is to get as much power up to the antenna as pos­sible, and then let the energy leave the antenna.
