SUPER CHOKER™ 16040 for 30-40-60-80-160 meters, 5KW
SUPER CHOKER™ 160-40 for 160-80-60-40-30 meters
Super Choker™ 16040 uses five FT-240 ferrite toroids with custom made RG-8/213 coax cable pre-assembled with nylon ties on the toroids and PL-259 connectors. The Super Choker™ works well in reducing common mode current in our 1.5KW station (see case history below). All you need to add are a couple of barrel connectors and tie into you existing coax feed line. Each Super-Choker is custom made due to the high number of turns required to get the high choking impedance. Available in 52 ohm or 75 ohm cable.
Typical choking impedance over the 160-40 meter frequency range is shown in the graph below:
For coaxial feed lines to your antenna, use one SUPER CHOKER™ at the antenna and another and the shack end. The choker at the antenna keeps the power fed through the coax on the antenna and the choker at the shack suppresses common mode current induced by your antenna radiation (and other sources of RFI from non-radio appliances from your house and neighbors).
